Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Min-Sik Song (ranked 685 p4p, 84 weight class) and Sesto D Ippolito (ranked 1036 p4p, 123 weight class). Song kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is nkoha - Akatsuki. D Ippolito comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Squeeze- Cool for Cats kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Song. D Ippolito does a little dance to reset his feet.
D Ippolito has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Song is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Song throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Song misses with a low kick.
D Ippolito with the counter takedown but Song avoids it easily.
Song throws a shot from downtown. D Ippolito moves away and avoids it.
A slow jab from D Ippolito misses its intended target.
Song swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Song on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Song lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Song is looking to stand up but D Ippolito isn't so interested in that idea.
D Ippolito keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Song's head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as D Ippolito accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
D Ippolito throws an elbow that misses. Song uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in D Ippolito's guard. Nice move by Song!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looked like Song wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Song fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. D Ippolito looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

D Ippolito is looking for a kimura but Song is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for D Ippolito to get the leverage.

Song has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but D Ippolito is on him like a limpet, forcing Song back against the cage.
Song goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Song misses with a short punch on the inside.
Song tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
D Ippolito is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Song to keep the fight standing.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Song.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
D Ippolito blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Min-Sik Song has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sesto D Ippolito.
D Ippolito jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Song walks away with a smile on his face. D Ippolito gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
D Ippolito tries to score a power double leg takedown but Song sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten D Ippolito somewhat.

Song looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

D Ippolito misses with a series of wild punches.
Song blocks a low kick nicely.
Song scores with a punch to the head.
Song lands a right hook to the body.
D Ippolito takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Song takes a swing at D Ippolito's ribcage but misses.
D Ippolito takes a head kick and keeps coming.

D Ippolito shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Song defends it nicely.
Min-Sik Song is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Song lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Song dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on D Ippolito. That did some damage!
Min-Sik Song seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
D Ippolito uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Song.

Song gets caught flat footed, as D Ippolito shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Song is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
D Ippolito chips away with some ground and pound.
D Ippolito cracks Song with a solid left hand.
D Ippolito has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Song manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Song bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of D Ippolito's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
D Ippolito's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Song connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! D Ippolito scrambles back to his feet.
Song connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Song throws the left hand but D Ippolito avoids the punch easily.

D Ippolito takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

D Ippolito will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Song is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

D Ippolito closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The fighters circling - Song throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Good leg kick by Song there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Song lands a big right hand that drops D Ippolito! The killer instinct kicks in and Song finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Song!

In his post fight interview, Min-Sik Song started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
