The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trevor lands with a right hand.

It looks like Petiah Mathis has been cut.
Mathis misses the shot to the body.
Mathis takes a kick to the side of the head.

Mathis clinches.

Mathis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mathis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Mathis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Trevor told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Mathis is working an open guard so Trevor takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Mathis moves in looking to clinch but Trevor pushes him off.

Trevor throws the kick towards the body but Mathis avoids it.
Trevor connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Cory Trevor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Trevor has Mathis up against the cage in a clinch.
Mathis tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Trevor creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Mathis breaks from the clinch.
Mathis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A frustrated look appears on Mathis's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mathis tries for a takedown. No joy.
Trevor is pressed up against the cage. Mathis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Trevor down to the mat. Trevor avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Trevor tries to clinch up but Mathis circles away and keeps his distance.

Trevor pushes Mathis back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Mathis throws an elbow but it misses.
Trevor lands an elbow that stopped Mathis in his tracks for a moment.

Trevor creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Mathis's defenses.
Mathis definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Despite the aggression on Trevor's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Mathis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Trevor lands a nice looking kick to the body. Mathis takes a step back to recover.

Mathis throws a hook to the side of Trevor's head but Trevor sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Mathis throws a right and a left that Trevor avoids nicely.
Trevor is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Mathis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Trevor.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Trevor! Mathis is out on his feet! Trevor rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Mathis is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Mathis is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cory Trevor!
After winning the bout, Cory Trevor thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Petiah Mathis was interviewed post fight and said 'Man Boom, what a fight. You deserve that Title shot man, good luck. But if you do win the belt remember I'm coming for you!'.
