The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bakerfield goes for a double leg but Taklob avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Taklob continues to drive forward.
Juan Taklob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taklob thuds his shin into the meat of Bakerfield's side.
Nice shot lands for Taklob.

It looks like Bubba Bakerfield has been cut.
Bakerfield tries to close the distance and clinch but Taklob swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Taklob fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Taklob lands a right hook to the body.
Bakerfield doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Taklob counters by clinching up.
Taklob is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Taklob pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Taklob throws a head kick that Bakerfield semi-blocks.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Taklob clinches with his opponent.
Taklob is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Bakerfield jumps guard but Taklob turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bubba Bakerfield. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Taklob's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Bakerfield goes for a takedown attempt but Taklob pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Taklob throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bakerfield's head.

Bakerfield throws a sloppy head kick and Taklob moves out of range easily.

Taklob connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Bakerfield to the floor! Taklob dives in looking for the finish!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Taklob perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Oh Bakerfield is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Taklob is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Taklob stands up out of the half guard.
Taklob measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Bakerfield! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
