PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Crane (ranked 22863 p4p, 0 weight class) and LC Haruma (ranked 6247 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that LC Haruma was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mickey Crane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, LC Haruma!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crane closes the distance and clinches.
Crane displaying some good clinch control by pressing Haruma up against the cage.

Haruma lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Haruma is taking a breather. Crane says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Haruma wants to work for an arm triangle but Crane is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Haruma looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Crane trying to get back to full guard but Haruma takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Crane tries to reverse the position but Haruma maintains control.
Haruma avoids the attempt from Crane to control.
Crane is trying to escape the mount.
Haruma unloading with bombs!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Crane swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Crane might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Haruma controlling the position easily from mount.
Crane is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Haruma working for a guillotine from mount but Crane is in no mood to give up.
Crane trying desperately to get to his feet.
Crane is squirming around, avoiding Haruma's attempts to control the action.
Crane is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Crane is wriggling around trying to escape.
Haruma content just to control the position here.
Haruma lands a big shot there that rocks Crane but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Crane can't escape the position.
Haruma cracks Crane with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Crane is looking to improve his position but Haruma isn't that keen on the idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Haruma avoids the attempt from Crane to control.
Haruma lands with some strikes.
Crane prevents Haruma from taking his back.

Haruma is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Crane shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Haruma as he jumps to the side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Haruma fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Crane sprawls well initially but Haruma persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Haruma escapes and gets back to his feet.
Haruma pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Crane appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Haruma changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Crane looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Haruma has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Haruma advances to mount.
Haruma has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Crane's face.


Crane is rocked!
Haruma loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Crane scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Haruma land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Haruma stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). LC Haruma!
