PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Asko Asinen (ranked 1644 p4p, 255 weight class) and Jake The Dog (ranked 766 p4p, 128 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying The Dog's choice of entrance music: Meditation Time. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Asko Asinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake The Dog!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Asinen checks a leg kick.

Asinen looking to score a takedown here. The Dog is defending well but Asinen drives through and ends up in The Dog's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as The Dog holds on and takes a little breather.
Asinen won't allow The Dog to sweep him here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now The Dog is on top in guard.

The Dog not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Asinen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The Dog stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Asinen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Asinen's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Let's hope that The Dog has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Asinen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Asinen is rocked!
The Dog cracks Asinen on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Asinen falls backwards against the cage. The Dog follows up with more strikes that drop Asinen to his knees. The Dog keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Asinen! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake The Dog!
Jake The Dog was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
