Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wallace Kirkland (ranked 5071 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emir Salazar (ranked 7517 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wallace Kirkland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Emir Salazar!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kirkland gets caught flat footed, as Salazar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Salazar trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kirkland really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kirkland is looking to stand up but Salazar isn't so interested in that idea.

Salazar has hold of Kirkland's hands but Kirkland slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Salazar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kirkland takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kirkland seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Salazar for as long as he can get away with.

Still in half guard, Kirkland seems content to control.
Kirkland has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Salazar is looking to improve his position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Salazar shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kirkland manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kirkland will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kirkland has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kirkland wants the takedown. Salazar is fighting it off but Kirkland persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Salazar's guard against the cage.

Salazar instigates a clinch.
Kirkland is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Salazar is defending well.
Salazar has had enough of the clinch but Kirkland keeps him there for the moment.

Kirkland kicks Salazar off and gets to his feet.
Salazar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Kirkland jumps guard and drags Salazar to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Salazar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Salazar drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kirkland looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kirkland looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kirkland!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Emir Salazar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kirkland closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salazar quickly recovers to half guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kirkland, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
