Josefi comes to the cage accompanied by I beat my dick. Terry Josefi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jiminy Cricket's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Terry Josefi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jiminy Cricket!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Chris Dean and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Josefi rushes Cricket and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Josefi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cricket gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Cricket breaks from the clinch.
Josefi tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Josefi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Cricket closes the distance and pushes Josefi back into the cage.
Josefi has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cricket after a bit of a struggle.
Josefi is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Terry Josefi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cricket wants to break the clinch but can't.
Josefi tries to score a body lock takedown but Cricket shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cricket's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Cricket tries to pull guard but Josefi won't allow it.
Cricket jumps guard but Josefi turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Josefi is trying to drag Cricket to the mat but Cricket just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cricket goes for a takedown attempt but Josefi pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Cricket will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Josefi looks for a takedown but Cricket sprawls well.
Cricket avoids a kick to the body.
Cricket feints the counter takedown.

Cricket fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Josefi, pushing him back against the cage.
We've been informed that Cricket has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Josefi looking for a takedown.
Josefi prevents a takedown attempt there.
Josefi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cricket pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cricket shoots for a double leg takedown but Josefi sprawls well. He's pushed Cricket's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cricket fails with a takedown attempt.
Josefi attempts a counter takedown but Cricket avoids it well and moves away.

Cricket pushes Josefi up against the cage in a clinch.
Cricket looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Josefi tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cricket has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Josefi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Josefi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Josefi manages to end up in side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cricket is trying to get back to half guard.
Cricket is trying to control Josefi's posture but Josefi avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Josefi is looking to take a break and control but Cricket is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Josefi has an Americana. Cricket didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Josefi is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Josefi hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Terry Josefi!
In his post fight interview, Terry Josefi gave a big smile as he said 'Damn it feels good to be a gangster'.
