PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Alexander (ranked 8369 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Glass (ranked 25447 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that George Glass was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Glass!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alexander fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Glass, pushing him back against the cage.
Glass looking for a takedown.
Glass tries to pull guard but Alexander forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Glass is trying to force a seperation but Alexander has the dominant position.
Glass can't break the clinch.
Glass keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Alexander's efforts to push away.

Alexander breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
George Glass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Glass shoots in for a takedown but Alexander shows good takedown defense.
Douglas Alexander has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Glass.
Glass scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alexander doesn't seem bothered though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alexander connects with a nice short shot to Glass's temple.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alexander lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alexander is nestled in close to Glass, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Alexander is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Alexander scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Alexander lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Alexander is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Glass makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Glass leaves Alexander with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Glass tries to clinch up.
Glass tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alexander paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Alexander lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Glass at a distance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Glass lands a really nice looking cross but Alexander seems unphased.

and Alexander counters with a single leg into guard. Glass didn't expect that.

Glass has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alexander can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Alexander has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Alexander stands up over Glass, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
