Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Goodwin (ranked 7684 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 3386 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ed Goodwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goodwin gets tackled into the cage by Rogers. Rogers maintains the clinch.
Rogers is working for takedown but Goodwin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Goodwin tries to pull guard but Rogers forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Come on Goodwin - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Goodwin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Rogers is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Goodwin to keep the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rogers breaks from the clinch.

Rogers closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Goodwin's guard.
Rogers trying to control the position from guard on top but Goodwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rogers is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goodwin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Goodwin looking for a sweep. Not yet Goodwin, not yet.
Rogers wants to control from the top but Goodwin keeps moving.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Goodwin pulls Rogers in close to prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rogers or perhaps it was just good defense by Goodwin, which made it look bad.
Ed Goodwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Rogers.

Rogers closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Goodwin quickly recovers to half guard.
Goodwin pushes Rogers off but Rogers dives into side control.
Goodwin wants to get back to his feet.
Rogers moves into full mount!
Rogers avoids the attempt from Goodwin to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rogers is looking to work his way around to Goodwin's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Goodwin is just holding on here. Rogers manages to take his back.
Goodwin is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Goodwin trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Rogers not allowing Goodwin to control his hands.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Goodwin trying to control the position but Rogers manages to sink in the hooks.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Goodwin is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Goodwin covering up well under a barage of strikes.
I really don't envy Goodwin right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rogers throws a series of punches but Goodwin moves out of range.
Goodwin swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rogers shoots in and drives through. Goodwin sprawls well.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Goodwin sprawls well. Goodwin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rogers gets slowly back to his feet.

Rogers clinches up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Goodwin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ed Goodwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Rogers.
Rogers tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Goodwin smiles and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rogers shoots for a takedown but Goodwin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As Rogers looks to move away, Goodwin throws a big counter combo but Rogers just gets out of the way.
Rogers has his takedown stuffed

and Goodwin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Goodwin.

Goodwin decides to pull guard.
Goodwin wants to get back to his feet but Rogers is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rogers throwing strikes from guard but Goodwin blocks nicely.
Goodwin wants to stand but Rogers is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goodwin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Goodwin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rogers looking to improve position, pressing down on Goodwin's thigh with his hand. Goodwin seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Rogers paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Rogers's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Goodwin picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
