The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Claessens.
Claessens keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ortiz.

Claessens throws a series of punches but Ortiz avoids them all with ease.

Claessens unleashes a big counter combination but Ortiz bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Claessens ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ortiz moves away.

Claessens uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ortiz.
Claessens swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ortiz counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Claessens thinking.

Claessens takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Claessens lands with an uppercut that bounces Ortiz off the cage and back into range.
Ortiz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

It looked like Ortiz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Claessens lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ortiz circles away quickly and effectively.

Matteo Claessens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Claessens throws a body shot but no joy.

Ortiz lands a big uppercut and Claessens crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Claessens looks OK. Ortiz waves Claessens back to his feet!
Claessens is still on wobbly legs! Can Ortiz finish him?

Ortiz cracks Claessens with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Claessens tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Ortiz pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Claessens is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
