PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dick Chompers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demetryos Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chompers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Enter Sandman. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chompers avoids the head kick by Rua.
Chompers tries to close the distance and clinch but Rua swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chompers is looking to clinch.
Chompers looks for a takedown but Rua sprawls well.
Rua shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chompers as he avoids it easily.

Chompers pushes Rua up against the cage in a clinch.
Chompers is trying to break the clinch but Rua has him pressed against the cage.
Rua prevents Chompers from breaking the clinch.
Chompers using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Chompers has had enough of the clinch but Rua keeps him there for the moment.

Chompers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rua closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Chompers to the mat! Chompers manages to get full guard.

Chompers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Chompers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Chompers throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rua escapes and throws Chompers's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chompers is breathing heavily.
Chompers looks to move to half guard but instead Rua has passed into mount! Damn!
Chompers is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rua looking to control but Chompers is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rua is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Chompers has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Rua tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Chompers is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Rua locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Chompers is forced to tap!
