PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Strikes (ranked 2418 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Adermundie (ranked 22279 p4p, 0 weight class). Adermundie has chosen Peak Times by Switch as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 46 - 43 - 2, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Adermundie!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adermundie closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Adermundie lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Carlos Strikes has been cut.
Strikes is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Adermundie is keeping busy.
Adermundie lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Adermundie is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Adermundie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Adermundie thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Strikes if he has to take too many more of those.
Adermundie connects with a leg kick. Strikes looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Strikes throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Adermundie.
Adermundie cracks the inside of Strikes's front leg.

Strikes gets tackled into the cage by Adermundie. Adermundie maintains the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Adermundie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A left and a right from Adermundie both land. Nice combination.
Adermundie fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Strikes shoots and misses
and Adermundie counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Adermundie takes the fight into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Adermundie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Adermundie has taken the fight to the clinch.

Adermundie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Strikes throws out a loose jab but Adermundie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Adermundie scores with a kick to the midsection.
Strikes takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Strikes takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Adermundie clinches up against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Adermundie lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Adermundie crunches a lovely knee into Strikes's ribcage.
Adermundie lands an elbow inside that Strikes shrugs off.
Strikes is breathing heavily.
Adermundie lands a knee to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Strikes takes an elbow to the temple.


Carlos Strikes's cut is getting worse.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Adermundie creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Strikes's defenses.
Adermundie lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Adermundie lands an elbow inside.

Adermundie pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Strikes darts in looking for a takedown but Adermundie gets double underhooks and turns Strikes into the cage.
Johnny Adermundie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Adermundie connects with a leg kick. Strikes looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Adermundie buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Strikes on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Adermundie throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


Carlos Strikes's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Adermundie lands a nice looking body kick.
Strikes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Adermundie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Adermundie throws a head kick that half lands.
Adermundie with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Adermundie throws a head kick but Strikes moves out of range.
Adermundie throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


Jeez, Carlos Strikes's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Strikes looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Strikes takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Adermundie circles away from the clinch attempt
and Adermundie counters with a one-two to the body.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Carlos Strikes's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Johnny Adermundie!
