Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Herbert Burns (ranked 1113 p4p, 119 weight class) and Albert Ricci (ranked 1890 p4p, 175 weight class). Herbert Burns had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns ducks under a wild hook from Ricci.
A jab from Burns finds it's way through Ricci's defenses.
Ricci defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Burns.
Ricci let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Burns takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ricci loads up on a big right hand but Burns slips the punch.
Burns attempts a counter takedown but Ricci avoids it well and moves away.
Burns swings widly with a right hand
and Ricci counters with a nice uppercut.
Ricci pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A cross from Ricci lands.
Ricci lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Burns closes the distance and clinches up with Ricci, looking for a takedown. Burns pushes Ricci against the cage but Ricci circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Burns misses with a straight left.
Burns shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ricci manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ricci is controlling Burns's posture.
Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Ricci is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We've been hearing that Burns has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Burns wants to control from the top but Ricci keeps moving.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ricci swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Burns slips a jab from Ricci.
Ricci lands a really nice looking cross but Burns seems unphased.
Burns shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ricci as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Herbert Burns. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Burns half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

enabling Ricci to counter with a crisp jab.

and Ricci counters with a nice body shot.
Ricci lands a slapping body shot.
Ricci wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Ricci steps in with a hook that catches Burns right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Ricci follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Burns looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Albert Ricci!
A less than humble Albert Ricci misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
