Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mister Happy (ranked 1368 p4p, 161 weight class) and Chief Slayer (ranked 1787 p4p, 211 weight class). Happy's entrance music is Tequila vs Mr Happy. A fine choice. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Chief Slayer enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mister Happy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Slayer!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Slayer.
Slayer misses with a lunging right hand
and Happy counters with a nice body shot.
Slayer throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
No joy there for Slayer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Slayer throws a jab when Happy was well out of range.
We've been told by Happy's head coaches at Q Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Happy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Slayer.
Happy ducks under a wild hook from Slayer.
And Happy counters with a quick kick to the body but Slayer blocks it.
Slayer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Happy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Happy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Slayer.
Happy was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
The fighters circling - Slayer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Happy jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Happy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Happy keeping moving, preventing Slayer from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slayer wants to pass the guard but Happy is keeping the position.

Slayer drops back, looking for a kneebar! Happy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Happy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Happy!


Happy stands up.

Slayer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Happy is staying active underneath Slayer, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Slayer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Happy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Happy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Happy keeping full guard, as Slayer tries to pass.

Slayer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Happy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Slayer has Happy in his guard.


Slayer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Slayer working for submissions but it's allowed Happy to get to half guard.
Slayer wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Slayer actively working from the bottom here.

Happy decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Slayer throws a left and a right that both miss
and Happy counters with an inside leg kick.
Slayer has his takedown stuffed
and Happy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Slayer misses with a head kick.
It looked like Happy wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Slayer misses with a body shot
and Happy counters with an inside leg kick.
Slayer looks winded!
Happy throws a good cross that connects.
Slayer sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Happy fakes the body blow, causing Slayer to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Slayer goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mister Happy!
An out of breath Mister Happy thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
