PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rudolf Kleinschmidt (ranked 458 p4p, 66 weight class) and Power Shark (ranked 599 p4p, 79 weight class). Kleinschmidt comes into the arena with DMX- It's hot and hell is dark blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rudolf Kleinschmidt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Power Shark!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kleinschmidt walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Nice defenses there by Kleinschmidt.
Kleinschmidt tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Shark defends well and Kleinschmidt ends up having to push Shark into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Shark appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Shark throws a head kick that misses.

Kleinschmidt drives through and clinches with Shark against the cage.

Shark manages to break the clinch.
Shark throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Shark takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kleinschmidt is looking to clinch but Shark is avoiding it.
Shark replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Kleinschmidt blocks it well.
Shark connects with a nice looking jab.

Shark clinches up against the cage.
Kleinschmidt misses with a hook from the clinch.
Kleinschmidt is looking to control Shark's arms but Shark gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kleinschmidt has his back to the cage.

Kleinschmidt pulls guard successfully.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kleinschmidt is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Kleinschmidt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shark gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kleinschmidt is adopting a defensive guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shark seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kleinschmidt pulls Shark in close to his closed guard and prevents Shark from doing any damage or advancing position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kleinschmidt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shark doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shark manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Shark got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kleinschmidt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shark has managed to get both his arms back between Kleinschmidt's legs - danger averted.

Shark reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Shark taps out! Nice BJJ there by Kleinschmidt!

After the fight, Rudolf Kleinschmidt was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
The defeated Power Shark had this to say: 'Bullshit!'.
