The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McCoist was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've been hearing good reports from James's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

James passes McCoist's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James is nestled in close to McCoist, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
James seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
James is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, McCoist is hurt! He's hurt bad - James fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save McCoist from any more punishment! Congratulations to James! Great finish!
