Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian Grimes (ranked 923 p4p, 104 weight class) and David McCarthy (ranked 2057 p4p, 223 weight class). McCarthy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Chamillionaire - Ridin' ft. Krayzie Bone. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

31 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy pushes Grimes up against the cage in a clinch.
McCarthy wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
McCarthy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Grimes throws a body shot but no joy.
A slapping body kick lands there for Grimes.
Grimes moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like David McCarthy has been cut.
No joy there for Grimes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McCarthy is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
McCarthy throws a sloppy head kick and Grimes moves out of range easily.
McCarthy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McCarthy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Grimes managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by McCarthy.
Grimes pushes McCarthy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McCarthy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
McCarthy is trying to get an arm triangle but Grimes is defending well.
McCarthy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Grimes tries to escape but McCarthy is in control.
Sloppy strikes there by McCarthy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grimes throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
McCarthy clinches up against the cage.
Grimes manages to break the clinch.
We've been told by Grimes's head coaches at Midnight MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Grimes circles away from the clinch attempt
and Grimes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCarthy shoots in for a takedown but Grimes shows good takedown defense.
Grimes thows a left - swing and a miss!
Grimes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McCarthy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Grimes won't be happy with that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McCarthy looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
McCarthy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Grimes has escaped the position, nice work there.
McCarthy has hold of Grimes's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Grimes seems comfortable defending it but McCarthy has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Grimes is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Grimes is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McCarthy couldn't care less - he's delighted!
