Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex English!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Meachum!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

English shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Meachum napping and manages to drive through into side control!
English lands a nice forearm strike.
English lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
English could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
English working away.
English throwing shots but missing, from side control.

English swings around for an armbar but Meachum sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into English's guard.
Meachum tries to free his leg and advance position but English is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
English throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Meachum won't allow English to sweep him here.

Meachum thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
English managing to control the position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. English manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
English wants to break free but Meachum has control.
English fails to pull the fight into his guard.

English jumps guard and drags Meachum to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
English pulls Meachum in close to prevent any damage.
English might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Meachum postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
English has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Meachum is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Meachum pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. English is keeping the position for now.
English is trying to control the position but Meachum postures up.

Meachum passes English's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Meachum throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Meachum thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed English's head.
Meachum has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Meachum has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can English defend it? Meachum steps over the head and cranks it - English is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Meachum!
