Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cade Smith (ranked 5547 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimbo Covert (ranked 2349 p4p, 294 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Covert works over Smith's head and body with a nice combination.

It looks like Cade Smith has been cut.

Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Smith is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Covert will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Covert tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Covert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Covert has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Covert lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Covert cracks Smith with a right hand to the side of the head.
Covert misses with an attempted mid kick.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Covert tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Covert's guard.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Covert has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Covert's legs - danger averted.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
