And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenshi Himura!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios tries to close the distance and clinch up but Himura swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rios really is a fat lump.

Himura shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Himura throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Himura not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Himura not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rios is refusing to be controlled, as Himura sits in half guard.

Rios might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Himura wants to pass the guard but Rios is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Himura had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rios defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rios lands a couple of digs.
Himura is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Himura looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Himura is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rios is looking to clinch.

Rios moves into the clinch.

Himura gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rios regains guard.
Himura has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Himura is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Rios looking to hit a scissor sweep but Himura is one step ahead there.
Himura controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Himura wants to get up but he can't break Rios's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Himura throws an elbow that misses. Rios uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Himura's guard. Nice move by Rios!

Himura is adopting a defensive guard.

Himura wants to sweep here but Rios controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenshi Himura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Rios throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Himura's waist but Himura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rios off to one side.
Rios tries to clinch but Himura moves out of range.

Himura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Himura showed some decent athleticism there.

Himura seems to be working for a kimura but Rios defends the submission attempt.
Himura is trying to control the action in half guard but Rios is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rios is looking for a sweep. Himura is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rios wants to control but Himura is keeping busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Himura is controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The fighters circle, before Himura throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Rios's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Himura lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
