Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mirko Cro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Riley!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riley throws a looping overhand right but Cro ducks down to avoid it.
A head kick misses from Cro.

Cro shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Riley wants to improve his position but Cro is controlling well.
Cro is thwarting Riley's attempts to control the position.
Cro could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Riley is trying is best to control the position here.
Cro trying to control from half guard but Riley is working away.

Cro stands up out of the half guard.

Cro tries to keep at a distance but Riley has taken the fight into the clinch.

Riley tries to pull guard but Cro won't allow it.
Cro wants to break the clinch but can't.
Riley is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cro pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Riley is looking to stand up but Cro isn't so interested in that idea.

Cro stands up from Riley's guard - Cro perhaps looking for a knockout.
Cro is looking to clinch.
Riley is looking to clinch but Cro is avoiding it.
Riley shoots in but Cro avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mirko Cro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Riley.

Cro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Riley is controlling Cro's posture.

Cro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Riley scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Riley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Riley controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Riley stands up from Cro's guard - Riley perhaps looking for a knockout.
Cro shoots in and drives through. Riley sprawls well.
Cro throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like George Riley has been cut.
Riley tries to clinch up.

Riley closes the distance and clinches.
Cro wants to break free but Riley has control.
Cro throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Riley blocks it with crossed arms.
Cro can't break the clinch.
Cro wants a takedown but no success here.
Cro wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Riley has him pressed against the cage.
Riley keeps control of Cro as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Riley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Riley counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Riley is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Riley dominated that round.
The cut man is working on George Riley's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Riley clinches with his opponent.
Cro wants to break free but Riley has control.
Cro wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Riley has him pressed against the cage.
Riley is pressed up against the cage. Cro has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Riley down to the mat. Riley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Riley throws a body kick that misses.
Cro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Riley drives through and clinches with Cro against the cage.
Cro throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Cro can't break the clinch.
Cro tries to pull guard but Riley won't allow it.

Riley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cro gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Riley counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cro!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cro is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Riley looking to control and managing it successfully.
George Riley has got the better of the ground game so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Riley in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


It looks like Mirko Cro has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cro tries to lock up and control but Riley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Riley content just to control the position here.

Despite being in the dominant position, George Riley just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Riley looks for a takedown but Cro sprawls well.
Cro shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Riley but Riley pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Riley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Riley holds on and takes a little breather.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cro checks a leg kick.
Cro has a takedown stuffed.
Cro misses with a takedown attempt - Riley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Riley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cro tries a head kick but it misses.
Cro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Cro tries to score a body lock takedown but Riley shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Riley throws an elbow but misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Riley takes the fight into the clinch.
Cro has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Riley avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Cro gets to his feet - Riley follows without any prompting.
Riley misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Cro throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Riley's head.
Cro tries a head kick but it misses.
Horrible takedown by Cro or perhaps it was just good defense by Riley which made him look bad.

Riley decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Riley passes to full mount!
Cro tries to lock up and control but Riley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Riley avoids the attempt from Cro to control.
Riley is in the full mount, landing strikes.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cro taking shots to the head.
Riley blocks Cro's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Riley unloads with some shots from mount but Cro bucks and avoids them well.
Cro is trying desperately to improve position.
Cro is working hard here to advance position.
Cro tries to hold on but Riley postures up.
Riley thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Cro tries to lock up and control but Riley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

George Riley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Riley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
