Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lyman Berg (ranked 5324 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mud Gus (ranked 5123 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lyman Berg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mud Gus!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gus tries to land a leg kick but Berg saw it coming and moves away.
Berg really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Gus throws a half hearted mid kick.

Berg gets a clinch.
Gus wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Berg has him pressed against the cage.

Berg manages to pull guard.
Gus trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Berg looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Gus looking to sit in guard and control but Berg gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gus is still trying to improve position.
Berg throws an elbow that misses. Gus uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Berg's guard. Nice move by Gus!

Berg has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Gus is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Berg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gus tries to close the distance and clinch up but Berg swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gus misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Berg takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Gus fails with a takedown attempt.

Berg drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Berg drops back looking for a leg! Gus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gus manages to kick Berg off! Berg jumps back into Gus's guard.
Gus tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Berg gets to his feet. Gus looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Berg circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mud Gus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gus looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Berg jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Gus lands a lovely overhand right.


It looks like Lyman Berg has been cut.
Berg slaps away a takedown attempt from Gus, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Berg is looking to counter with head kicks.
Gus fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lyman Berg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mud Gus.
Gus lands with a thumping leg kick.
Berg misses with an attempted mid kick.
Gus tries to land a leg kick but Berg saw it coming and moves away.

Gus throws a half hearted mid kick.
Gus throws a head kick that misses.
Berg throws a chopping leg kick but Gus manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Gus!


Berg is rocked!
Gus slaps away a takedown attempt from Berg, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gus is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Berg looks to land a body kick but Gus moved away.
Gus shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Berg really is a fat lump.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Berg closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Berg looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gus is trying to stand up here but Berg is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lyman Berg will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Gus throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Gus attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Gus doesn't manage to clinch there - Berg circles away.
It looked like Berg wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Mud Gus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Berg avoids it really well and circles away.
Berg thinks about countering with a body kick.
Berg closes the distance and clinches up with Gus, looking for a takedown. Berg pushes Gus against the cage but Gus circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gus shoots in but no luck this time.
Gus lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Gus looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Berg throws a counter high kick but Gus was just alert enough to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gus lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Oh Berg is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Berg wants to stay close but Gus steps back to make room for something. Berg seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Gus and Berg drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Mud Gus!
In his post fight interview, Mud Gus started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
