Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kermit York!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rajon Jones Sr!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones Sr shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones Sr was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones Sr is looking to take a break and control but York is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jones Sr tries to advance to mount but York denies him.

Jones Sr tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones Sr has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jones Sr wants to control but York is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
York manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
York wants to get back to full guard.

Jones Sr wants to work for an arm triangle but York is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jones Sr wants to control but York is keeping him busy.
York really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jones Sr seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones Sr connects with a nice short shot to York's temple.

York wants to control but Jones Sr is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jones Sr has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jones Sr thows a huge punch but York dodges it nicely.
York is pressing down on Jones Sr's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Jones Sr stands and steps away. York gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jones Sr is nestled in close to York, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Jones Sr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jones Sr passes to side control.

Jones Sr swings around for an armbar but York sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jones Sr's guard.
York trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones Sr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones Sr scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones Sr tries a head kick but it misses.
As Jones Sr tries to get set, York tries to push him back and clinch up but Jones Sr manages to avoid the attempt.
York blocks a head kick by Jones Sr.
York takes a head kick and keeps coming.


York is rocked!

Jones Sr lands a huge takedown. York is out but the ref is slow to react and Jones Sr lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. York lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rajon Jones Sr!
Rajon Jones Sr took his opportunity to call for a title shot in his post fight interview.
