PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bashaad Al Hammad (ranked 21311 p4p, 0 weight class) and Galdra Kiddi (ranked 3347 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Galdra Kiddi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bashaad Al Hammad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 22 - 4, fighting out of Amsterdam, Galdra Kiddi!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Kiddi as he connects with a hook.
Al Hammad will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Al Hammad gets the takedown into side control.
Kiddi is trying to improve his position.
Kiddi gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Kiddi looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kiddi trying to control from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Al Hammad keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Kiddi wants to get back to full guard.
Kiddi trying to hold on to Al Hammad's head to control him but Al Hammad postures up.

Kiddi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kiddi.
Al Hammad preventing the sweep.
Kiddi seems keen to control Al Hammad's posture.

Al Hammad avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Al Hammad's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kiddi wants to sweep here but Al Hammad controlling him for the moment.
Al Hammad trying to control the position from guard on top but Kiddi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Al Hammad controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Al Hammad shoots for a double leg takedown but Kiddi sprawls well. He's pushed Al Hammad's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And Kiddi tries to counter it with a takedown but Al Hammad pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Kiddi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Al Hammad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bashaad Al Hammad. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Al Hammad fails to land the takedown.
Al Hammad walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
No luck for Al Hammad with that takedown attempt.
Al Hammad changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kiddi tries to avoid it but Al Hammad manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kiddi to the ground. Kiddi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Al Hammad dives in for a single leg takedown but Kiddi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Al Hammad needs to keep his hands up - Kiddi had a free shot at his head there.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kiddi. Al Hammad shrugs it off though.
Al Hammad doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kiddi throws a head kick that Al Hammad semi-blocks.


It looks like Bashaad Al Hammad has been cut.
Kiddi fakes the leg kick and cracks Al Hammad in the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiddi scores with a leg kick.

Kiddi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Al Hammad's half guard.
Kiddi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kiddi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kiddi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kiddi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kiddi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Al Hammad keeps working.

Kiddi wants to free his trapped foot but Al Hammad is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kiddi slows the pace down in half guard.

Kiddi looking for a submission but Al Hammad manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Kiddi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kiddi stopping the sweep attempt from Al Hammad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Galdra Kiddi dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bashaad Al Hammad's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kiddi throws a quick inside leg kick.
Al Hammad tries for a takedown but Kiddi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kiddi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Al Hammad is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kiddi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kiddi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Al Hammad has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kiddi throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Bashaad Al Hammad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kiddi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Al Hammad looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A lazy left from Kiddi finds it's target.
Kiddi cracks the inside of Al Hammad's front leg.
Kiddi dips to his left and cracks Al Hammad with an uppercut!
Kiddi changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kiddi throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Al Hammad.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Al Hammad on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Good leg kick by Kiddi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Al Hammad closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kiddi quickly recovers to half guard.
Kiddi trying to control but Al Hammad postures up.
Kiddi gets back to full guard.
Kiddi pulls Al Hammad in to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kiddi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kiddi scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Al Hammad avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Al Hammad has his hands on Kiddi's head, controlling the position.
Al Hammad utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kiddi landing with the ground and pound.

Al Hammad is trying to control the position but Kiddi postures up.
Kiddi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kiddi trying to control but Al Hammad is working from the bottom.
Kiddi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kiddi is looking to work some ground and pound but Al Hammad has wrist control.
Kiddi passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Kiddi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Al Hammad knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Al Hammad tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Kiddi tries to control but Al Hammad wriggling away.
Al Hammad avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kiddi.
Kiddi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kiddi lands a big shot there that rocks Al Hammad but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Al Hammad takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kiddi is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Bashaad Al Hammad's cut is getting worse.
Al Hammad is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kiddi scoring with strikes but Al Hammad is staying in there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
BOOM! Kiddi connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kiddi is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Al Hammad is rocked!


Jeez, Bashaad Al Hammad's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bashaad Al Hammad's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Galdra Kiddi!
A relieved looking Galdra Kiddi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
