Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Popeye Theeh (ranked 4177 p4p, 315 weight class) and Stan Dickinson (ranked 4186 p4p, 316 weight class). Dickinson has chosen Dizzee Rascal - Fix up look sharp as his entrance music. Stan Dickinson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Popeye Theeh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Stan Dickinson!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Theeh drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dickinson controls Theeh momentarily but Theeh frees himself.

Dickinson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Theeh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Theeh drops back looking for a leg! Dickinson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dickinson manages to kick Theeh off! Theeh jumps back into Dickinson's guard.
Dickinson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Theeh looking for a guillotine here but Dickinson defends easily.

Dickinson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Theeh is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dickinson, into his guard.

Theeh working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dickinson's head.

Theeh tries to free his leg and advance position but Dickinson is retaining full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Theeh passes Dickinson's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Theeh looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Theeh not doing much here.

Theeh lands with a punch from half guard.

Theeh stands up out of the half guard.
Theeh tries for a takedown but Dickinson circles away easily
and Dickinson counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Theeh throws a sloppy head kick and Dickinson moves out of range easily.

The crowd cheers as Dickinson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Theeh doesn't seem phased though.
Theeh fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Popeye Theeh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Theeh closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dickinson quickly recovers to half guard.
Theeh looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dickinson is looking for a sweep. Theeh is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Popeye Theeh will probably get the nod.

We've been informed that Dickinson has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Theeh scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Dickinson tries to bench press Theeh off him but Theeh keeps the position.

Theeh has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Dickinson scores with a nice strike.

Theeh uses his free foot to push down on Dickinson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dickinson.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Theeh cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Dickinson tries to reverse the position but Theeh maintains control.

Popeye Theeh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dickinson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Theeh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Theeh is landing with some decent strikes but Dickinson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Dickinson wants to hold on but Theeh pushes him away.
Theeh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dickinson looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Theeh looking for the choke but no joy.
Theeh biding his time, looking for the opening.

Theeh working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Dickinson is doing well to defend. Theeh seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Dickinson is forced to tap and this one is over!
