Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Shogun!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shogun moves into the clinch.
Aldo fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Shogun has hold of one of Aldo's legs. Aldo is fighting the takedown attempt but Shogun gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Aldo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Shogun slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Aldo wants to take a breather but Shogun is having none of it.
Shogun is looking to control Aldo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shogun avoid being mounted?
Aldo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shogun keeps working.

Shogun is defending against the submission attempts here by Aldo.
Aldo prevents Shogun from standing back up.
Shogun wants to control but Aldo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Shogun really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aldo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, if Aldo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Aldo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Shogun wants to get back to his feet.

Aldo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shogun is just riding it out for now. Aldo eventually gives up the hold.
Aldo prevents Shogun from improving his position.
Aldo is looking to take a break and control but Shogun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Shogun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aldo is working away from the top position though.

Aldo is trying for a kimura here. Shogun looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Aldo wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jose Aldo!
