Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rua showed some decent athleticism there.
Akiyama is staying active underneath Rua, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rua wants to free his trapped foot but Akiyama is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rua is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rua is tying to control. Akiyama wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rua is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Akiyama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rua can't keep his opponent in guard - Akiyama advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Akiyama tries to free his leg and advance position but Rua is retaining full guard.
Rua looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Akiyama puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
