PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wesley Correira (ranked 80 p4p, 9 weight class) and Kvame Zulu (ranked 237 p4p, 40 weight class). Zulu is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Big Badaboom. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Correira throws an overhand right that lands on Zulu's shoulder, as Zulu tries to avoid the shot.
Zulu throws a hook but Correira blocks it.
Correira throws a sloppy head kick and Zulu moves out of range easily.
Zulu takes a swing at Correira's ribcage but misses.
Correira throws a jab but it's blocked by Zulu.
Correira misses with a double jab.
Correira slips under a jab.
Correira misses with a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zulu scores with a leg kick.
Correira takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Correira tries to close the distance and clinch but Zulu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Correira tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zulu was well out of range. Poor timing from Correira.
Zulu is looking to score with low kicks.

Correira does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Zulu counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Zulu on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Correira. Correira obviously looking to wear him down.
Correira uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Zulu.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zulu! But no joy.

Zulu has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Correira buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Correira rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Zulu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Zulu swings wildly with an uppercut but Correira uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
