Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Hunter (ranked 5104 p4p, 162 weight class) and Ze Manel (ranked 7352 p4p, 0 weight class). Ze Manel will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ze Manel!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Manel's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hunter working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Manel.
Hunter is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Manel looking to sit in guard and control but Hunter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunter trying to control the position from guard on top but Manel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hunter sitting in guard here, content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Manel keeping moving, preventing Hunter from controlling successfully.
Hunter looking to sit in guard and control but Manel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Manel wants to pass the guard but Hunter is keeping the position.
Manel is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Hunter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Manel trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Manel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Manel scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Manel prevents Hunter from improving his position.

Manel looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Manel wants to stand up but Hunter is controlling the position.

Manel seems to be working for a kimura but Hunter defends the submission attempt.
Manel is keen to just control but Hunter is a slippery customer.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Manel is looking for a kimura here.
Hunter is looking to improve his position.
Manel slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Manel closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hunter's guard.
Hunter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Manel content to stall in guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Manel throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Manel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hunter to the mat! Hunter manages to get full guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Manel in particular looking to stall.

Manel wants to take a breather but Hunter is having none of it.
Manel takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Manel is trying to work for a kimura but Hunter is defending well.
We've been informed that Manel has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Manel wants to stand but Hunter has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Hunter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Manel wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Manel is fighting to break Hunter's control of his arms but Hunter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Manel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Manel manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hunter on his heels. He'll look to pass Hunter's guard now, I'm sure.

Ze Manel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Manel is looking to score with low kicks.
Manel has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hunter avoids a punch combination nicely.
Manel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hunter was well out of range. Poor timing from Manel.

Manel closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hunter did well to prevent Manel getting side control.

Hunter has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Manel is on him like a limpet, forcing Hunter back against the cage.

Manel successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Manel is on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Manel trying to control but Hunter is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Manel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Manel lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Manel wants to stand and escape but instead Hunter has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


Manel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hunter wants to control from the top but Manel keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hunter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Manel can't keep his opponent in guard - Hunter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Manel wants to control but Hunter is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hunter is pressing down on Manel's thigh, looking to free his foot. Manel is holding on for now.
Manel pushes Hunter off looking to stand but Hunter dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunter is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Manel moves into full guard.

Manel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hunter defends well.
Hunter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hunter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Manel connects with the punch.
Hunter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hunter tries to pull guard but Manel forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Manel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
John Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ze Manel is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Manel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hunter to the mat! Hunter manages to get full guard.

Hunter kicks Manel off and gets to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Hunter showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Manel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
