The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alsauskas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Shaffer closes the distance and pushes Alsauskas back into the cage.
Alsauskas is trying to break the clinch but Shaffer has him pressed against the cage.

Alsauskas gets control of Shaffer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Alsauskas will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Shaffer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Shaffer gets to his feet - Alsauskas follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alsauskas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shaffer.
It looked like Shaffer was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Alsauskas misses with a straight right.
Shaffer really is a fat lump.
Alsauskas connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Sloppy strikes from Alsauskas. Those never looked like landing.
It looked like Shaffer was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Alsauskas.

Alsauskas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Alsauskas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Shaffer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alsauskas did well to prevent Shaffer getting side control.
Alsauskas wants to stand back up but Shaffer manages to pass into side control.

Shaffer is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Alsauskas will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Alsauskas is pushing Shaffer's head away, looking to escape. Shaffer manages to hold on to the position though.

Shaffer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Alsauskas wants to stand back up but Shaffer manages to pass into side control.

Shaffer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alsauskas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Alsauskas bucks up and tries to throw Shaffer off but instead Shaffer has got his back!

Shaffer has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Alsauskas is defending well but eventually Shaffer manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Alsauskas has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
