PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Karter (ranked 1495 p4p, 182 weight class) and Kostya Tszyu (ranked 1945 p4p, 233 weight class). Tszyu has chosen Till the End of Time as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tszyu scores with a body shot.
Karter looks to land a left hand but Tszyu moved out of range nicely.
Karter avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tszyu misses with a hook. Karter ducked under it nicely.
Karter moves forwards but Tszyu connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Tszyu scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Tszyu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Karter.
Tszyu tries to score with a low kick but Karter moves his leg out of the way.
Tszyu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Karter swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Tszyu lands with an uppercut that bounces Karter off the cage and back into range.
Karter steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tszyu.

Karter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Tszyu throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Karter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tszyu.

Tszyu works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Karter has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Crassus in the buildup to the fight.
Tszyu throws a good cross that connects.

Karter throws an overhand right that lands on Tszyu's shoulder, as Tszyu tries to avoid the shot.
Karter scores with a head kick. Tszyu tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Tszyu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Karter circles away quickly and effectively.

Karter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tszyu tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Karter is in Tszyu's guard.
Tszyu is looking to stand back up but Karter counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tszyu.

Tszyu felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Karter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Karter tries to pass to full mount but Tszyu defends it.

Karter slips a nice elbow through Tszyu's hands, connecting with Tszyu's forehead.
Karter is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tszyu!
Karter lands a nice shot to the head.
Tszyu is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Karter lands a couple of good shots and Tszyu has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Karter connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Tszyu to escape the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tszyu fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Karter takes a swing at Tszyu's ribcage but misses.

A combination from Tszyu does no damage.
Karter appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Tszyu keeps Karter at a distance using the push kick.
Tszyu throws a wild body kick that Karter sees coming a mile off.
Karter lands with a kick to the temple. Tszyu shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Karter lands a left and a right that sends Tszyu crashing to the canvas! Karter dives into mount looking to finish!

Tszyu is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Karter loads up with a big shot that hurts Tszyu! He's pulled Karter in close but Karter has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Tszyu survive? More strikes from Karter and Tszyu is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
