Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dean Switcher (ranked 5099 p4p, 477 weight class) and Ronnie Pickering (ranked 5372 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dean Switcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ronnie Pickering!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Switcher throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pickering.
Pickering throws a head kick that misses.
Pickering fails in his attempt to clinch.
Switcher throws a series of punches but Pickering avoids them all with ease.
Pickering tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Switcher manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Switcher tried to counter with a leg kick but Pickering avoided it.
Switcher scores with a hook to the body. Pickering takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Pickering - that will leave a mark!
Pickering looks to throw a body kick
and Switcher counters with a slapping leg kick.
Pickering fails to land the takedown.
Pickering looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A clash of legs there as Pickering blocks the low kick.
Switcher lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Pickering throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Switcher.

Switcher is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Switcher throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pickering works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pickering has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Switcher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Pickering counters with a big head kick but Switcher shrugs it off.
Pickering fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dean Switcher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronnie Pickering.

Switcher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pickering is trying to maintain a safe position but Switcher gets an underhook and turns Pickering into the cage.
Switcher goes for a takedown attempt but Pickering pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Switcher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pickering manages to avoid it.

Pickering throws a head kick but Switcher moves out of range.
Switcher throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Pickering explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Switcher throws a big counter combination but Pickering scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Pickering tries a head kick but it misses.
Pickering fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Switcher avoids it really well and circles away.

Pickering throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Switcher's head.
Switcher scores with a jab. Pickering acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Pickering shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Switcher but Switcher pushes him off and we're back to square one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ronnie Pickering seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Switcher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pickering manages to avoid it.

Switcher appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Switcher has managed to clinch.
Pickering is trying to pull guard but Switcher turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Switcher works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Pickering is wriggling around but Switcher manages to pass to half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pickering is refusing to be controlled, as Switcher sits in half guard.
Pickering has hold of Switcher's hands but Switcher slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Switcher is taking a breather. Pickering says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Switcher is looking to advance position but Pickering won't allow it.
Pickering keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Pickering tries to get to full guard but Switcher has control of the leg.
Pickering has hold of Switcher's hands but Switcher slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pickering is not content to let Switcher control the position.
Pickering trying to control from the bottom.
Switcher with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Switcher wants to take a breather but Pickering is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Switcher wants to pass the guard but Pickering is defending well.
Pickering is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Pickering tries a head kick but it misses.
Pickering tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Switcher swivels and escapes.
Pickering throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Switcher's waist but Switcher gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pickering off to one side.

And Pickering tries to counter it with a takedown but Switcher pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pickering throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Switcher is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Pickering tries to close the distance and clinch up but Switcher swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Pickering has his takedown stuffed
and Switcher counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Switcher connects with a single shot there.
Switcher uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Pickering displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Switcher.
Pickering tries to clinch there but Switcher circles away.
Switcher tries to counter by clinching up but Pickering breaks away and moves out of range.
Pickering shoots for a double leg takedown but Switcher sprawls well. He's pushed Pickering's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Switcher cracks a nice hook into Pickering's ribs.
Pickering takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A frustrated look appears on Switcher's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pickering is trying to pull guard but Switcher has him pressed against the cage.

Switcher throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pickering fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Switcher avoids it really well and circles away.

Pickering darts in looking for a takedown but Switcher gets double underhooks and turns Pickering into the cage.

Switcher jumps guard and drags Pickering to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pickering is looking to stand up but Switcher won't let him.

Switcher had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pickering defends it easily.

Pickering slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Pickering passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Pickering trying to control the action but Switcher is working from the bottom.
Switcher defending against the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pickering gets to mount! Switcher was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Pickering misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Pickering looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Switcher is wriggling around trying to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pickering thowing shots but they're missing.
Ronnie Pickering has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dean Switcher is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Pickering wants to finish this one by submission but Switcher is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pickering.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dean Switcher showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Switcher, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
