PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Little Nog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jeff Monson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Monson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab-cross combination lands for Nog and sends Monson crashing to the mat! Nog follows him down to the mat - Monson regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like Jeff Monson has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nog is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monson is staying active underneath Nog, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Nog is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Nog is working for a kimura but Monson is defending it quite comfortably.

Nog is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Monson is just riding it out for now. Nog eventually gives up the hold.

Nog blocks the strikes from Monson.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nog scores with a three punch combo!
Nog throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Monson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Decent striking displayed by Nog there.


That has opened up Jeff Monson's cut even more.
Nog scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Monson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.


The cut above Jeff Monson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Nog is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Nog comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Nog scores with a jab to the body.
Nog drops Monson with a right and a left! Nog comes rushing in but Monson regains his composure and manages to keep Nog in guard.

Nog drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nog jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Nog passes Monson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Nog is working for a kimura but Monson is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monson is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Monson is trying to stand.
Nog works his way into side control.
Monson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
You can see the frustration on Monson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nog will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nog wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monson keeps working.
Nog tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nog throws a combination. Monson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


Jeff Monson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jeff Monson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Little Nog!
