PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hussein Stahl (ranked 1474 p4p, 49 weight class) and Rob Mugabe (ranked 2515 p4p, 75 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mugabe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Stahl attempts a counter takedown but Mugabe avoids it well and moves away.
Stahl throws a sloppy head kick and Mugabe moves out of range easily.
Mugabe is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Mugabe pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Stahl will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mugabe circles away from the clinch attempt.

Stahl tries to keep at a distance but Mugabe has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mugabe creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Stahl's defenses.

Mugabe gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Mugabe seems to be working for a kimura but Stahl defends the submission attempt.
We've been hearing good reports from Stahl's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Stahl is looking for a sweep. Mugabe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Stahl is working for a kimura here but Mugabe manages to reverse the position and he's now in Stahl's guard.
Mugabe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mugabe cracks Stahl with a solid left hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mugabe lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Stahl has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mugabe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
