Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Raymon Juarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Darren Copley!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Copley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Juarez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Copley moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Copley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Juarez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Juarez attempts a counter takedown but Copley avoids it well and moves away.

Copley moves into the clinch.

Juarez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Copley closes the distance and clinches.
Copley tries to pull guard but Juarez forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Juarez jumps into guard, dragging Copley to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Juarez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Copley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Copley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Copley prevents Juarez from getting back to his feet.
Juarez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Copley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Copley throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Juarez was covering up waiting for the punch and Copley finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Juarez wants to stand and escape but Copley is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Copley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Copley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Juarez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Copley is one step ahead there.

Juarez seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Copley doesn't manage to clinch there - Juarez circles away.
No luck for Copley with that takedown attempt.
Juarez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Raymon Juarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darren Copley.

Juarez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Copley to the mat! Copley manages to get full guard.

Juarez stands up and waves to Copley to follow him.

Juarez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Copley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Juarez is in Copley's guard.

Copley wants to sweep here but Juarez controlling him for the moment.
Copley lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Copley stays in close to Juarez's body and controls the position.
Copley wants to pass the guard but Juarez is keeping the position.
Juarez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Copley is controlling him.

That was a close round but I would say that Raymon Juarez will probably get the nod.

Juarez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Copley is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Juarez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Copley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Juarez wants to get back to full guard.
Juarez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Copley on the ground.
Copley wants to stand but Juarez has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Juarez is trying to control but can't.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Copley wants to stand up but Juarez is controlling the position.
Juarez trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Copley manages to pass to mount!
Copley thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Copley misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Copley has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Copley wants to get back to his feet but Juarez is holding on tight.

Copley stands up from mount. Strange move.
Copley throws a right hand that Juarez ducks under and follows up with a left that Juarez also avoids with ease.

enabling Juarez to counter with a crisp jab.

Copley shoots in for a takedown but Juarez shows good takedown defense.
Copley throws a head kick but Juarez moves out of range.
Juarez throws a big counter combination but Copley scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Darren Copley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Copley shoots in looking for a takedown. Juarez tries to sprawl out of it but Copley keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Juarez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Copley throws a jab when Juarez was well out of range.

and Juarez counters with a shoot takedown. Copley fights it but they end up in guard.
Juarez is looking to stand up but Copley won't let him.

Copley throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Copley is on top in guard.


Copley gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Copley takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Darren Copley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Juarez gets caught flat footed, as Copley shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Let's hope that Copley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Copley seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Copley shoots for a double leg takedown but Juarez sprawls well. He's pushed Copley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Juarez lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Copley closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Juarez quickly recovers to half guard.

Juarez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Copley is working away from the top position though.
Darren Copley has got the better of the ground game so far.

Copley winds up and cracks Juarez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Juarez seems a little lost for a moment, as Copley dominates the positioning.

Juarez throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Juarez blocks a head kick by Copley.

Juarez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Copley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Copley pulls Juarez in close to his closed guard and prevents Juarez from doing any damage or advancing position.
Juarez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

I think Copley has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
