PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Choco Lobo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Billons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Choco Lobo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Billons!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Lobo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Billons thuds a left hand into Lobo's body.
Lobo tries to clinch there but Billons circles away.
Billons bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lobo's head backwards.

Billons shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lobo's guard.
Lobo doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Billons not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Lobo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Billons gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lobo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Billons gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Billons stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lobo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lobo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Billons escapes and throws Lobo's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Billons shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Billons with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Lobo wants to get back to full guard.

Billons trying to mount his opponent but Lobo defends it.

Billons is taking a breather. Lobo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Billons is taking a breather. Lobo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Billons's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lobo is pressing down on Billons's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Lobo looking for a sweep. Not yet Lobo, not yet.

Lobo looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Billons has picked Lobo up and slammed him! Lobo can't keep hold of the triangle and Billons manages to pass to side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lobo is looking to regain half guard here but Billons keeps moving and retains side control.
Lobo looks to move to half guard but instead Billons has passed into mount! Damn!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Billons controlling the position easily from mount.
Let's hope that Billons has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

David Billons showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Billons lands a nice looking body shot.
Billons connects with a single shot there.
Billons scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Lobo doesn't manage to clinch there - Billons circles away.
Lobo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lobo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Billons tries to avoid it but Lobo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Billons to the ground. Billons escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lobo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lobo is looking to clinch but Billons is avoiding it.
Billons throws out a leg kick but Lobo moves out of range and Billons only half commits.
Billons throws a one two combo.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Billons connects with a body shot.
Lobo with a lazy takedown attempt
letting Billons counter with a right hand.

Billons closes the distance and pushes Lobo back into the cage.
Billons can't break the clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Billons gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Billons slows the pace down in half guard.

Lobo is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Billons pulls his head out easily.
Billons is controlling the pace.

Lobo is looking to control Billons's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lobo avoid being mounted?
Lobo wants to improve his position but Billons is controlling well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Billons really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lobo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Well, if Billons is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

David Billons comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Billons has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
