PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Jordan (ranked 5272 p4p, 95 weight class) and Jack Gerow (ranked 5430 p4p, 0 weight class). Jordan comes into the arena with Ape Sh^t y the Carters blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan avoids the body shot from Gerow.
Gerow thows a leg kick but Jordan checks it

and Jordan counters with a takedown into side control.
Jordan tries to move to mount but Gerow blocks the move with his legs.
Gerow is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jordan wants to control but Gerow is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gerow is looking for a sweep.
Gerow wants to control but Jordan postures up.
Gerow tries to improve position but can't.

Gerow is holding Jordan down, trying to stall.
Gerow is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Jordan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gerow seems a little lost for a moment, as Jordan dominates the positioning.
Jordan creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gerow is really stuck here.

Gerow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jordan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gerow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gerow got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jordan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gerow has managed to get both his arms back between Jordan's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Jordan will probably get the nod.

Gerow throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jordan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Jordan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gerow is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jason Jordan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gerow tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jordan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gerow circles away quickly and effectively.

Gerow fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Gerow tries to close the distance and clinch but Jordan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gerow closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jordan did well to prevent Gerow getting side control.
Jordan is staying active underneath Gerow, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Jack Gerow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Gerow throws a sloppy head kick and Jordan moves out of range easily.

Gerow has Jordan up against the cage in a clinch.
Jordan tries for a takedown but Gerow manages to get underhooks.

Gerow darts in looking for a takedown but Jordan gets double underhooks and turns Gerow into the cage.

Jordan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gerow tests Jordan's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jordan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Gerow closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jordan circles away.
Gerow shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jordan defends it nicely.
Jason Jordan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Gerow.
