The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Place drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Corleone throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Corleone controls Place momentarily but Place frees himself.
Corleone thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Corleone throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Corleone has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Place has passed into side control.
Corleone is trying to get back to half guard.
Corleone connects with an elbow from the bottom.
Corleone is trying to buck Place off.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Place connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Place scores with a crisp jab that stopped Corleone in his tracks.
Place lands with a nice combination. Corleone backs away looking to recover.
Place scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Good exchange - Place coming out on top.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Corleone doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Place to counter with a crisp jab.

and Place counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Corleone down! Place is looking to finish but Corleone is intelligently defending himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Place slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Place working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Place has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Corleone is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Place yanks on the arm and Corleone is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Place.
