PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Riley Levi (ranked 5219 p4p, 141 weight class) and Strike Zombie (ranked 5328 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Levi looks for the body kick but Zombie saw that one coming.
Levi shoots for a takedown but Zombie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Zombie takes the fight into the clinch.

Zombie drags the fight down to the ground.
Levi trying to control the position from guard on top but Zombie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Zombie is on top in guard.

Zombie wanted to stand there but Levi had control of the position.
Levi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zombie on the ground.

Levi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Zombie manages to get himself to full guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Zombie holds on and takes a little breather.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Levi is stalling in the full guard.
Levi could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Zombie is pulling down on Levi's head to control his posture.
Let's hope that Zombie has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Zombie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Levi's guard.

Zombie tries to pass to full mount but Levi defends it.

Levi is looking for a sweep. Zombie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zombie is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Levi wants to control but Zombie is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Levi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Zombie tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Levi lands with a thumping leg kick.
Levi is looking to slow Zombie down with leg kicks.

Nice takedown defense from Zombie . No joy for Levi on that attempt.
Zombie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Zombie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Levi sprawls well initially but Zombie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Zombie perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Zombie is continuing to stall.

Zombie 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Levi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zombie is working away from the top position though.
Zombie content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Zombie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Zombie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Levi.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Zombie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Zombie is looking to stand up but Levi won't let him.
Zombie is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Zombie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Levi is proving hard to escape from.

Levi stuns Zombie with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Zombie throws a head kick but Levi moves out of range.

Levi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Zombie 's half guard.

Levi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Zombie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Levi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Levi's back!

I really don't envy Levi right now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Strike Zombie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Levi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Levi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Zombie has picked Levi up and slammed him! Levi can't keep hold of the triangle and Zombie manages to pass to side control!

Levi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Zombie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Zombie is staying tight to Levi's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Zombie wants to stand but Levi is controlling his arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zombie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Levi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Levi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A lull in the action here as Zombie stalls from top position.

Zombie has hold of Levi's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Levi tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Zombie cranks the arm and Levi screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Levi, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
