Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Drew Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.
Jones looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Daniels has taken the fight to the clinch.
Knees to the body from Daniels.

Daniels's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Daniels misses with a head kick.

Daniels feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, Daniels changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Daniels controls from within his opponent's guard.

Daniels drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Daniels off! Daniels jumps back into Jones's guard.

Daniels decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get!

Daniels scores with a one two! Jones had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Daniels misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Some wild striking there from Daniels.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Daniels won't allow Jones to sweep him here.

Daniels stands up from Jones's guard - Daniels perhaps looking for a knockout.

Daniels throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones wants to land a leg kick but Daniels is out of range.
Daniels misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Daniels darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Daniels's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Daniels's back!

Daniels is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones has the hooks in. Daniels is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Will Jones go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Daniels scores with a head kick.

and Daniels decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones has his takedown stuffed

and Daniels moves into the clinch.

Daniels has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones regains guard immediately.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Daniels is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Daniels has managed to sneak the leg through.

Jones won't allow Daniels to pass to mount.

Daniels seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Daniels manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Jones trying to control but Daniels is working from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Daniels counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mark Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drew Jones.
Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Daniels has gone for a leg lock! Jones slips out almost immediately though and dives into Daniels's guard.
Daniels is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
Daniels wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Daniels seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Daniels counters with a big head kick but Jones shrugs it off.

Daniels throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease.
Daniels tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Daniels closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Daniels throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Daniels is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.
Daniels is looking to advance position but Jones won't allow it.

Daniels is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Daniels.

Daniels is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Jones has managed to free his arm - good work.

Jones is staying active underneath Daniels, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Daniels thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Jones tries to kick Daniels off but Daniels keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Daniels takes the fight into the clinch.
Jones takes an elbow to the forehead.

Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Daniels is on top in guard.
Daniels connects with a couple of short punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mark Daniels is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
