PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Damion Frost (ranked 5224 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dylan Bary (ranked 5222 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Damion Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dylan Bary!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bary moves into range and clinches up with Frost.
Bary is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Frost decides to pull guard.
Frost could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bary stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Bary fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Frost, pushing him back against the cage.
Frost blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Frost is stalling here.
Frost gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bary.
Bary prevents Frost from breaking the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frost tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Frost's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bary changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Frost tries to avoid it but Bary manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Frost to the ground. Frost escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Frost half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Frost closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bary did well to prevent Frost getting side control.

Bary tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bary is pulling down on Frost's head. It's preventing any offense from Frost, at least for the moment.
Frost postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bary accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Frost keeping full guard, as Bary tries to pass.
Bary seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bary stands up and waves to Frost to follow him.

Frost clinches with his opponent.
Frost just leaning against Bary, taking a breather.

Frost jumps guard and drags Bary to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Frost keeping moving, preventing Bary from controlling successfully.

Frost is working an open guard so Bary takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Frost wants to clinch up but Bary keeps it at a distance.

Bary is trying to drag Frost to the mat but Frost just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Frost is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bary off and has taken his back!
Bary has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Frost.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bary can't escape the position.
Bary breaks Frost's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Damion Frost overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Frost manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bary manages to get himself to full guard.


Bary escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Frost gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bary is adopting a defensive guard.

Frost drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bary looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bary looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bary!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Frost is looking for a sweep.

Bary misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bary throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Frost throws a wild body kick that Bary sees coming a mile off.
Bary lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Frost shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Frost misses with a double jab
and Bary counters with a left to the body.
Frost fails to land the takedown.

Bary closes the distance and pushes Frost back into the cage.

Bary wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Frost has him pressed against the cage.
Bary lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Frost backwards.

Frost's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bary shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Frost pinned against the cage. Frost gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Frost seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Bary rushes Frost and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bary can't break the clinch.
Bary has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Frost after a bit of a struggle.

Frost wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bary fails to land the takedown.
Frost seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Bary avoids the body shot from Frost.
Bary shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Frost sprawls well. Frost wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bary gets slowly back to his feet.
Frost throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bary's waist but Bary gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Frost off to one side.
It seemed like Bary was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Bary avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Bary throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Frost works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Frost throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bary uses it to pass to side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bary thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
A lull in the action here as Bary stalls from top position.
Let's hope that Bary has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bary is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Frost is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Dylan Bary comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bary winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
