PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Haskill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tim Haskill told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tim Haskill!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Haskill blocks a head kick by Jones.
Haskill fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones throws a head kick but Haskill moves out of range.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Haskill.
Jones throws a series of punches but Haskill avoids them all with ease.
Jones lands a nice looking kick to the body. Haskill takes a step back to recover.
Haskill looks gassed!
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Jones lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like Tim Haskill has been cut.
Jones throws a head kick that Haskill semi-blocks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Horrible takedown by Haskill or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.
Jack Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Haskill changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Haskill manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Haskill moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Haskill tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.

Haskill fails with a takedown attempt.
Haskill shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Haskill rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jones throws a nice looking combination but Haskill bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jack Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jones throws a head kick but Haskill moves out of range.
Haskill fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jones lands with a slapping head kick.
Jones throws a head kick that misses.

and Haskill counters with a slapping leg kick.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.
Haskill turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Haskill avoids the head kick by Jones.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Haskill decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.
Haskill won't allow Jones to get back to his feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Haskill shoots in but no luck this time.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jones lands a high kick!
Jones goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Haskill avoids the head kick by Jones.
Jones throws a head kick but Haskill moves out of range.
Haskill slips a jab and a cross from Jones.
Jones misses with a head kick.

Haskill moves into the clinch.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick

and Haskill counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Haskill trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones is looking to stand up but Haskill isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Haskill trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Haskill looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Haskill is striking from the bottom but Jones uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Jones postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Haskill to stand up.
Jones fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Haskill.
Jones lands with a slapping head kick.


That has opened up Tim Haskill's cut even more.
Jones throws a head kick that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Haskill shoots in but no luck this time.
Haskill takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Haskill looks to land a body kick but Jones moved away.
Haskill looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Haskill persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Jack Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Haskill.

and Haskill counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Haskill shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Haskill. That did some damage!
Haskill shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Haskill keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones throws a right and a left that Haskill avoids nicely.
Haskill scores with a body shot.
Jones throws a combination. Haskill tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Haskill tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Haskill moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
Jones throws a lazy head kick

and Haskill counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jones wants to stand but Haskill is controlling the position.
Haskill trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Haskill might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jones kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jack Jones will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Haskill tries to clinch up.
Jones sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Haskill to the ground! Jones dives into full mount looking to finish!


Haskill is rocked!
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Haskill is still in real trouble! Can Jones finish him?

Jones stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Haskill seems to have recovered his senses.
Haskill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Haskill cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones lands a slapping body shot.
Jones throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jones throws a half hearted mid kick.

Jones lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Haskill backs up against the cage.
Haskill takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
A slapping leg kick lands for Jones.
Haskill fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jack Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Haskill fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The ground and pound from Haskill seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Jones is pushing Haskill's head away, looking to escape. Haskill manages to hold on to the position though.
Haskill wants to take a breather but Jones manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Haskill.

Haskill throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Haskill is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top!
Haskill is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jack Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
