Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luther Jackson (ranked 499 p4p, 60 weight class) and Sake Chu (ranked 2987 p4p, 353 weight class). Chu has chosen Daughtry - Renegade as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luther Jackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sake Chu!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Chu quickly recovers to half guard.
Chu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chu is trying to control but can't.
Jackson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jackson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Chu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jackson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Jackson drops an elbow to the side of Chu's head.

Jackson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chu keeps working.

Jackson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chu can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Chu is in a horrible position here. Jackson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Jackson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Chu can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The referee warns Chu that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Chu is still in real trouble! Can Jackson finish him?
Chu seems to have recovered his senses.

Jackson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chu is looking to escape.
Jackson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jackson ducks under a wild hook from Chu.
Chu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sake Chu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson is looking to clinch.
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Chu.

Jackson has closed the distance and engaged Chu in a clinch.

Jackson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Chu clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Can Chu hold on?! Jackson is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Jackson has the hooks in. Chu is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Jackson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Chu has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chu tries to escape but Jackson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Jackson. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
