Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Charles (ranked 1969 p4p, 239 weight class) and Edvard Grieg (ranked 1412 p4p, 180 weight class). Charles's entrance music is Renegades Of Funk - Rage Against The Machine. A fine choice. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edvard Grieg!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grieg tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Charles paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Charles drops down looking for a counter takedown but Grieg sprawls and moves away.
Charles takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Grieg lands the left hand.
Grieg connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Charles's hands.
Grieg moves to clinch but Charles breaks away

and Charles decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Grieg's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mike Charles decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
