PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sivile Gonya (ranked 7001 p4p, 518 weight class) and William Bonin (ranked 7430 p4p, 533 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonin lands a jab to Gonya's midsection.
We've been told by Gonya's head coaches at Tycoon Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Gonya just misses with a punch to the body.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sivile Gonya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gonya feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bonin is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Gonya pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Bonin back to the cage. Gonya follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
William Bonin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gonya got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bonin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gonya has managed to get both his arms back between Bonin's legs - danger averted.

Bonin cracks Gonya with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Gonya looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Bonin finish him?
