PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bakung Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miyoshi Kazuhide (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk comes to the ring accompanied by X Amount of Words- Blue October. Kazuhide has chosen 'Samurai' by Shurik'n as his entrance music. Bakung Monk has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bakung Monk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miyoshi Kazuhide!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monk throws a series of punches but Kazuhide avoids them all with ease.
Monk shoots for a takedown but Kazuhide saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kazuhide moves into range and connects with a jab.
Miyoshi Kazuhide seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kazuhide drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kazuhide thows a big elbow that misses.
Monk keeping moving, preventing Kazuhide from controlling successfully.
Kazuhide content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Monk is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kazuhide postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Monk wants to stand but Kazuhide is controlling the position.
Kazuhide with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Monk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kazuhide drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kazuhide jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Monk is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kazuhide shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kazuhide showed some decent athleticism there.
Monk is trying to stand up here but Kazuhide is controlling him well.
Kazuhide is nestled in close to Monk, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Monk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kazuhide on the ground.

Kazuhide thows a huge punch but Monk dodges it nicely.

Kazuhide is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Monk is just riding it out for now. Kazuhide eventually gives up the hold.

Kazuhide looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Monk with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Monk won't allow Kazuhide to pass to mount.
Kazuhide works his foot free and advances to mount.

Monk tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kazuhide wants to control the pace but Monk is squirming around nicely.
Kazuhide postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Monk looks a forlorn figure.
Monk is trying to escape the mount.
Monk is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kazuhide with shots to the head and body - Monk looks very uncomfortable down there.
Kazuhide has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kazuhide looking to control but Monk is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kazuhide postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Monk looks a forlorn figure.
Monk tries to improve his position but instead Kazuhide has taken his back!

Kazuhide struggling to keep hold of the position.

Kazuhide is persistently looking for the submission but Monk is defending it well.
Monk tries to escape but Kazuhide has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Kazuhide looks gassed!
Kazuhide is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Kazuhide gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Kazuhide gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Kazuhide apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Monk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Monk slips under a jab from Kazuhide.
Monk tries to bum rush Kazuhide with a series of wild strikes but Kazuhide uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Monk looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Monk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kazuhide looks to throw the jab but Monk is out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miyoshi Kazuhide dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kazuhide thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kazuhide thuds a left hand into Monk's body.
Monk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kazuhide misses with a straight left.
Kazuhide throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Monk swinging wilding here.
Monk keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kazuhide.
Kazuhide looks to land a left hand but Monk moved out of range nicely.
Monk misses with a two punch combination.
Kazuhide shoots in looking for a takedown. Monk tries to sprawl out of it but Kazuhide keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Monk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Monk steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kazuhide.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kazuhide shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Monk but Monk pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Monk tries to clinch up but Kazuhide circles away and keeps his distance.

Monk tries to close the distance and clinch but Kazuhide swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Monk throws a sloppy head kick and Kazuhide moves out of range easily.
Monk misses with a two punch combination.
Some wild striking there from Monk.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Monk scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Kazuhide dodges the punch combination from Monk.
Monk takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Monk is looking to clinch but Kazuhide is avoiding it.
Kazuhide throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kazuhide scores with a punch to the head.
Monk shoots for a takedown but Kazuhide saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kazuhide connects with the punch.
Kazuhide thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kazuhide might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Kazuhide throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Monk stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Monk moves away from the strike by Kazuhide.

Kazuhide scores with a nice right hand.
Kazuhide throws out a loose jab but Monk uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kazuhide gets a takedown into half guard.
Kazuhide is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Monk trying desperately to get to his feet.
Monk is squirming around, avoiding Kazuhide's attempts to control the action.
Kazuhide lands a big elbow.
Miyoshi Kazuhide has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kazuhide has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Monk's face.

Kazuhide won't let Monk get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Kazuhide throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Monk has his hands clasped together but Kazuhide breaks the hold and Monk is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Kazuhide!
