Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Banma Zhang (ranked 5210 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tai Whishermann (ranked 5150 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tai Whishermann!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Zhang tenderised Whishermann's leg. Whishermann is trying to keep his angry face on.
Zhang thows a leg kick but Whishermann checks it

and Whishermann counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Zhang uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Zhang throws a head kick that misses

and Whishermann counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Zhang wants to get back to his feet but Whishermann passes into half guard.
Zhang pushes Whishermann off but Whishermann dives into side control.
Whishermann is staying tight to Zhang's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like Whishermann might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Zhang wants to get back to his feet but Whishermann is dominant here and he's now got Zhang's back!

Zhang is trying to get to his feet but he's left his neck exposed and Whishermann manages to sink in a rear naked choke! Great counter grappling by Whishermann!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tai Whishermann!
Tai Whishermann spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
