Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ned Bright (ranked 25044 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Houwers (ranked 5036 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Houwers has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ned Bright's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ned Bright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Houwers!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bright shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Houwers sprawls well. Houwers wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bright gets slowly back to his feet.
Bright shoots for a double leg takedown but Houwers sprawls well. He's pushed Bright's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Houwers drives through with a takedown into Bright's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Bright escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Houwers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Houwers avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Houwers is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Let's hope that Houwers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Houwers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Houwers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bright swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Houwers scores with a hook to the body. Bright takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Houwers has Bright up against the cage in a clinch.

Houwers pulls guard successfully.
Houwers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Houwers is working for a kimura but Bright is defending it quite comfortably.
Bright is looking to improve his position.

Bright has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Houwers is working away from the top position though.
Houwers stops Bright from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Houwers stands up from half guard.
Houwers throws a series of punches but Bright avoids them all with ease.
Bright darts in looking for a takedown but Houwers gets double underhooks and turns Bright into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ned Bright. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bright moves into range and clinches up with Houwers.

Houwers slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Bright is looking for a triangle here but Houwers uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Houwers dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Houwers lands a really nice looking cross but Bright seems unphased.

Bright fails in his attempt to clinch.
Houwers changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Houwers has taken the fight to the clinch.

Houwers gets control of Bright's arms and successfully pulls guard. Houwers will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Bright wants to control from the top but Houwers keeps moving.
Bright throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Houwers is wriggling around but Bright manages to pass to half guard.
Houwers is looking for a sweep. Bright is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bright is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Houwers is refusing to be controlled, as Bright sits in half guard.
Bright blocks the strikes from Houwers.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Houwers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bright is working away from the top position though.

Bright decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Houwers drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Bright bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Houwers is breathing heavily.

Bright gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Bright has Houwers pressed against the cage, preventing Houwers from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Houwers tries to circle away but Bright has him pinned against the cage.

Bright breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bright shoots in for a double leg but Houwers sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Houwers throws a series of strikes that have Bright backpedaling.

Houwers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bright looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Houwers tries to move into full mount but can't pass Bright's legs.
Bright throws a couple of elbows from the bottom.
Bright pushes Houwers away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Houwers gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Bright parries the strikes from Houwers easily there. Houwers is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bright to escape.
Bright trying his best to control but Houwers has mounted him.
Houwers misses with a head shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Houwers content just to control the position here.
Bright swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Bright really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bright tries to lock up and control but Houwers gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bright tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bright tries to hold on but Houwers pushes him away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Houwers misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Houwers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bright is looking to escape.
Houwers is looking to take Bright's back but instead Bright gets back to half guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Houwers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Houwers closes the distance and lands a one-two.
A looping hook to the body misses from Houwers. Bright does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bright appears to be looking for a big counter.
Bright tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Houwers paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Houwers just misses with a punch to the body.
It looked like Bright was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bright is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Frank Houwers seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nice straight punches there by Houwers. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Houwers.

Oooooh!!! Houwers has knocked Bright down with a huge combo! Houwers steps away and waves a wobbly Bright back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Bright is rocked!


It looks like Ned Bright has been cut.
Houwers closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Bright out cold! Bright corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Frank Houwers!
