PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kai Raymaker (ranked 1168 p4p, 151 weight class) and Lopeared Galute (ranked 897 p4p, 120 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kai Raymaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lopeared Galute!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raymaker throws a body shot but no joy.
Raymaker throws a lazy uppercut

and Galute holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Raymaker breaks the clinch.
Galute defending well as Raymaker loads up on a big left hand.
Galute is looking to clinch but Raymaker is avoiding it.

Galute scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Galute thows a huge punch but Raymaker dodges it nicely.

Galute is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Raymaker is defending against the submission attempts here by Galute.
Galute thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Raymaker's head.

Raymaker keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Galute is working for a submission of some sort.
Galute throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Galute wants to control but Raymaker is keeping him busy.

Galute is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Raymaker is just riding it out for now. Galute eventually gives up the hold.

Galute decides to return to a standing position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Raymaker swings for the body but Galute moves out of range.

Galute is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Galute shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Raymaker counters with a straight right hand.

Galute drives through with a takedown into guard.
Galute throws a big right hand that misses.
Galute wants to control from the top but Raymaker keeps moving.
Raymaker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Galute on the ground.

Galute has gone for a leg lock! Raymaker slips out almost immediately though and dives into Galute's guard.

Galute had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Raymaker defends it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Galute is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Raymaker slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Galute is trying to control Raymaker's posture but Raymaker avoids it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Galute is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Raymaker asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Galute fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Raymaker is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Raymaker fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Galute manages to avoid it.

Raymaker stuffs the takedown attempt from Galute. Galute gets slowly back to his feet.
Kai Raymaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lopeared Galute.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Raymaker throws a looping overhand right but Galute ducks down to avoid it.
Galute is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Raymaker throws a hook to the side of Galute's head but Galute sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And Galute tries to counter it with a takedown but Raymaker pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Raymaker throws a big counter combination but Galute scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

and Raymaker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kai Raymaker is winning the standup battle so far.
Galute shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Raymaker makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kai Raymaker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Galute is breathing heavily.
Raymaker tests Galute's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Raymaker jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Raymaker misses with a left hand

and Galute counters by moving into the clinch.

Raymaker lands with a right to the head.

Galute escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Galute tries for a takedown but Raymaker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Raymaker seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Raymaker throws an overhand right that lands on Galute's shoulder, as Galute tries to avoid the shot.
Galute takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Raymaker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Galute can do to turn this around?
Raymaker connects with a looping right hand.
Lopeared Galute is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice body punch from Raymaker.
Raymaker lands with a right hand.
Galute with a poor takedown
and Raymaker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Raymaker dips to his left and cracks Galute with an uppercut!
Galute displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Raymaker throws out the jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Galute shoots in but Raymaker avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Raymaker keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Raymaker swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Raymaker works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Raymaker feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Galute sprawling to the canvas! Galute rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Raymaker finish him?!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kai Raymaker dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Raymaker drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Galute right on the button. Galute goes down! Raymaker follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Raymaker gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kai Raymaker!
A very excited looking Kai Raymaker rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
