Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scotty Vaughn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chad McGee!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Francis DeMontford and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGee goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Scotty Vaughn has been cut.
Vaughn avoids the head kick by McGee.

Vaughn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Vaughn drops back looking for a leg! McGee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McGee manages to kick Vaughn off! Vaughn jumps back into McGee's guard.

Vaughn stands up and waves to McGee to follow him.

Vaughn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
McGee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vaughn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vaughn takes a little break here. McGee wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Vaughn misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGee tries to bench press Vaughn off him but Vaughn keeps the position.

Vaughn stands up and beckons McGee to his feet.
McGee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McGee works over Vaughn's head and body with a nice combination.
Chad McGee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Vaughn is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Vaughn has McGee pressed against the cage.
McGee is trying to maintain a safe position but Vaughn gets an underhook and turns McGee into the cage.
A frustrated look appears on McGee's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Vaughn keeps control of McGee as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Vaughn turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Vaughn manages to end up in side control.

McGee is looking to regain half guard here but Vaughn keeps moving and retains side control.

Vaughn has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
McGee looks winded!
McGee fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vaughn avoids it really well and circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Vaughn throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McGee tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Vaughn is in McGee's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vaughn content to stall in guard here.
Vaughn landing with the ground and pound.
Vaughn lands a couple of elbows.
Vaughn sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Vaughn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Vaughn avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vaughn lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Vaughn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

McGee gets caught napping as Vaughn dives in and scores a takedown. McGee manages to retain guard.

Vaughn stands up and waves to McGee to follow him.

Vaughn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vaughn lands in his opponent's guard.
Vaughn is stalling in the full guard.
Vaughn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vaughn is in close to McGee's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Vaughn stands up from McGee's guard - Vaughn perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scotty Vaughn dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Scotty Vaughn's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McGee wants to clinch.
Vaughn is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
McGee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Vaughn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Vaughn with a nice head shot there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGee has momentary wrist control but Vaughn slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vaughn postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Vaughn stands and steps away. McGee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Vaughn has taken the fight to the clinch.
McGee's coach down at Cozad MMA Sydney was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McGee's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Come on Vaughn - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Vaughn gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
McGee is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Vaughn stands up and waves to McGee to follow him.

McGee gets tackled into the cage by Vaughn. Vaughn maintains the clinch.
McGee tries to circle away but Vaughn has him pinned against the cage.

Vaughn has clasped his hands together around McGee's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Vaughn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McGee, who protects the arm well.

Vaughn is working to tighten his grip on McGee's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. McGee has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vaughn is really squeezing tight and eventually McGee passes out! Vaughn breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Scotty Vaughn!
